About Karl Tricomi- The Finest Pianist in NJ & Philadelphia
Karl Tricomi is a concert pianist whose career has spanned over four decades and who has impressed audiences with his brilliance and stylistic creativity. His solo repertoire is extensive, spanning both popular and classical genres, with his interpretations of the works of Debussy, Rachmaninoff and contemporary composers being especially noteworthy. His concerto repertoire includes Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Concerto, Beethoven’s Fourth, and Ravel’s Concerto for the Left Hand. He is well versed in all styles of music, from opera to jazz, and he is equally at home as a chamber music performer and accompanist. Although possessing an amazing technique and capable of great brilliance, he prefers to emphasize the refinements of phrasing, tone, and dynamics in his playing. Audiences are continually moved by his musical sensitivity and depth of expression. Karl Tricomi graduated from the Eastman and Juilliard Schools of Music. While attending the Eastman School he received an assistantship as accompanist for students of famed Wagnerian baritone Julius Heuhn. Later, while attending Juilliard, he was appointed accompanist and coach for the students of the renowned clarinet teacher Leon Russianoff.
His piano solo debut took place in Carnegie Recital Hall (now Weill Recital Hall), followed by many concert engagements across the United States and in Europe. For a number of years he performed as pianist for the International Rome Festival in Italy, serving as soloist, accompanist, and chamber musician, and in performances with the Rome Festival Symphony Orchestra.
He has taught for many years and is currently on the faculty of Burlington County College in New Jersey, and also does some private teaching. Many of his students have gone on to major in music at universities and conservatories such as Princeton, Peabody, Temple, and the Berklee School, and have won numerous competitions and scholarships. With his expertise and flair for popular and jazz styles, he frequently performs as pianist for corporate events, dining establishments, and weddings.
